ABOUT
ART THERAPY:
Art therapy,
as defined by the American Art Therapy Association, is "the use of
art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being
of individuals of all ages." Art Therapy is based on the belief that
the creative process involved in artistic self-expression is both healing
and life-enhancing.
Art Therapy is an established Mental Health profession that combines the
creative process with traditional psychotherapy. A licensed Art Therapist
is a Master’s level professional who is trained in both art and
therapy. They must pass a board exam and have at least 1,500 hours of
post-graduate supervised experience.
