Creative Classes at Art Nest offer individuals of all ages a chance to
“nourish their creativity.” Previous art experience is not
necessary or expected.
All classes have rolling admission and may be joined at any time.
Artistic
Development – Ages 4-7

This program is for those children who express a
real interest in art making. Each week traditional and non-traditional
media are used to encourage artistic expression and spark the inner creative
abilities that lead to a life-long love of art. Small group-size is designed
to provide your child with individual attention and inspiration.

Students will explore printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media in an atmosphere
that encourages artistic experimentation and self-expression. This course
is designed for children who have taken at least one art class in the
past.

Studio
Art Week: April 5th - 9th
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The studio offers Studio Art Weeks during school breaks in accordance
with the Hoboken Public School Calendar. These workshops are available
half-day (9 a.m to 12 p.m.) or full-day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Open
Studio Time
Thursdays, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
If
the studio is not in use for programming or special events than the studio
will be open to the public for Open Studio time. Please call to confirm
availability. Cost: $10 per person/hour

Spring Break Studio Art Week
Monday, April 5 th to Friday, April 9th
Monday:
Sculpture in the Spring
Half day workshop - $50 Full day workshop - $105
Young artists will spend the day working 3-dimensionally. They will
learn basic hand-building techniques with terra cotta clay and full-day
participants will have an opportunity to experiment with non-traditional
materials to create unique sculptures.
Tuesday:
Non-Traditional Painting
Half day workshop - $50 Full day workshop - $105
Children will experiment with printmaking and mixed media processes
including watercolor and acrylic paints. Using these unconventional
painting tools and methods they will create multiple paintings, some
of which will be turned into hand made greeting cards.
Wednesday:
Eastern Art
Half day workshop - $50 Full day workshop - $105
Children will learn and experiment with art making techniques and traditions
from Asia. Projects will include paper lanterns, blossom painting and
an origami lesson.
Thursday:
Wearable Art
Half day workshop - $55 Full day workshop - $110
Children will use stencil and printmaking techniques to transform a
T-shirt into a work of art! Full-day participants will design handmade
beads to create into personalized jewelry.
Friday:
Outdoor Art
Half day workshop - $50 Full day workshop - $105
Young artists will celebrate the return of warm weather through the
creation of Spring themed art projects. Children will create a nature
assemblage in the morning and full-day participants will design sun
catchers and leaf prints.
Half-Day Session (9am – 12 pm) Full-Day Session (9am - 3pm)
All art
materials and a daily snack are included in cost.
Discount given to those participating in 5-day program.
Mommy
and Me -
Ages 2-3

In Art Nest’s Mommy & Me Art Classes, children along with
their parents and guardians will experiment with a wide variety of age-appropriate
media and techniques in an environment that is fun and encourages exploration
and creativity.
Parents
will learn about the developmental and therapeutic benefits of art making
while also having the opportunity to see first hand their child’s
developing visual language and the joy these activities bring to their
toddlers.
Please dress your child in clothes that they can "make a mess"
in.
*Parents and guardians will need to fully assist their children. If
you have multiple children, please consider bringing a "helper".

ART
THERAPY GROUPS
In
art therapy groups the focus is on the process and experience of art
making - not a finished product.
No art talent is necessary to benefit from these programs.
Creating
Confidence – Ages 6 -12
This Art Therapy group will focus on helping your
child gain a strong sense of their individuality. Children will be introduced
to creative exercises and art activities that will enhance self-esteem
and raise self concept. Therapists work with children’s individual
strengths, which allows them to experience personal successes while
working on social, communication, and life skills.
Group requires 8-week commitment. Rolling admission.
$320 for 8 weeks.
Creating
Friendships – Ages 6 -12
Creating Friendships is a social skills art therapy
group focused on the treatment of social challenges - from social awkwardness
and bullying to neurologically based diagnoses such as Autism, Asperger’s
Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay, Attention Deficit Disorder
and learning disabilities. In this group, children are educated on social
awareness while learning and practicing positive, social skills in a
small group setting. Using highly-structured, therapeutic art activities,
existing strengths are reinforced, new social skills are taught, and
self esteem is built.
Group requires 8-week commitment. Rolling admission.
